Changing communities and regenerating areas isn’t about building a few new houses. To revitalise existing communities we need to provide the facilities, services, amenities and support so people can create a sustainable community where they can make the most of their economic and social opportunities.

Regeneration is about so much more than houses, buildings and open spaces. It is about people - people make places and for places to work people must have access to opportunity and the help to make the most of that opportunity.

We aim to combine 'the spirit of place' (the physical, spatial, functional and visual characteristics) with regeneration (the economic, social and political issues). If we can do this in a financially viable way then regeneration is less about talk and more about real change that is socially and economically sustainable.

What is important?

•    Promoting skills and local employment

•    Housing choice, open to all

•    A mix of tenure for different people – rent, buy, part rent, part buy

•    A combination of spaces for different uses, shops, houses, open spaces

•    Air to breath and space to live your life.

So at its heart, master planning is actually about creating an identity, a purpose and a sense of belonging.
